Emotional Connection
For this REAX gear email concept, I took a video that was 2:19, and edited it down to about 15 seconds. I really like the story–a group of friends with a shared passion for motorcycling getting together–and this captures that emotion. With ever faster phones and download speeds, there’s more opportunity than ever to share stories like this, and connect with customers on an emotional level.
The first thing I thought about was the “why” around the campaign. I had seen the campaign on Instagram, and was familiar–but what would a logo need to be relevant?
A couple thoughts kept coming to the forefront–things to continually consider:
1) #IRODETODAY is (among other things) very much about the individual. It’s about their joy.
2) What speaks to that person visually? The logo needs to carry the right tenor, to connect with that
kind of customer.
Next… I started jotting down ideas. At this point it was all super rough–but that’s ok. More than anything, this is about mental bookmarks. Getting ideas out. Putting notes around those ideas for later. Being able to zoom in and out, and begin to get a sense of what I’m liking, and what’s working.
Out of the process, these were my three favorite logos. They pull from different sources in motorcycle culture, from a smile on your face, a wheel that felt a lot like a patch you might see on a riders jacket, to where the double yellow lines turn to dashed ones. There are a lot of connections.
Another concept I worked on, was creating a logo for their #irodetoday social campaign.

And then ultimately, it came together in
this email concept.
The underpinning concept to the email is one of inclusivity. The email was designed to look and feel like an amalgamation of various people and their posts. I tried to achieve this aesthetic through size and placement, as well as borders–helping to add to that “collection of pictures” look.
The hero image jumps off the page and is a really strong photo. It underlines the ethos of independence–near and dear to everyone who rides.
